deutsche Regisseur, Wim Wenders, der über ein Studium der Medizin und
Philosophie über die Fotografie und Malerei zum Film fand, 1989 einen
Ehrendoktortitel der Pariser Sorbonne erhielt und seit 1993 neben seinen
Regietätigkeiten als Professor an der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film
in München lehrt. Mit einer ganz kleinen Reihe erweist das Kino in der
Reitschule Wim Wenders die Ehre. Der Filmzyklus spannt einen grossen
Bogen um Wenders Gesamtwerk.<br>

Wieder einmal darf Mann und Frau sich freuen, den Freuden und Leiden
einer Männerfreundschaft zuzusehen, die Im Lauf der Zeit zwischen Bruno
(Rüdiger Vogler) und Robert (Hanns Zischler) entsteht. Im Lauf der Zeit
(1976) ist aber nicht nur eine Geschichte über männliche Unzulänglichkeiten,
Hoffnungen und Begierden, es ist eine feine Studie über die Abrechnung
mit verkrusteten gesellschaftlichen Strukturen und eine von sanfter
Trauer und leichtem Humor getragene Reise in eine vielleicht bessere
Zukunft. Nicht zuletzt ist Im Lauf der Zeit auch eine Auseinandersetzung
mit Film schlechthin: Eine Würdigung an alle «FilmoperateurInnen und
KinobesitzerInnen der Welt». Diese stillen ArbeiterInnen sind es nämlich,
die in Wenders Film über die «Kunst des Sehens» philosophieren. Weiter
geht’s ins amerikanische Paris, Texas von 1984. Ein Roadmovie der
besonderen Art mit einem unvergesslichen Soundtrack von Ry Cooder. Die
kleine Wenders-Reihe endet schliesslich im Jahre 1999 in Kuba mit der
legendären Band Buena Vista Social Club. Einer der Protagonisten des
Films, Ibrahim Ferrer, ist im August im Alter von 78 Jahren gestorben. So
wird dieser Zyklus zum 60. Geburtstag von Wim Wenders gleichzeitig eine
Hommage an einen begnadeten kubanischen Sänger. <br>

der am Anfang des Films zunächst stumm und scheinbar ohne Gedächtnis
quasi vom Wilden Westen ausgespuckt wird, heisst Travis. Nachdem er
halb verdurstet zusammengebrochen ist, kontaktiert der behandelnde Arzt
seinen Bruder Walt, der seit vier Jahren nichts mehr von Travis gehört
hat. Walt kommt von L.A. nach Texas geflogen, um seinen Bruder
abzuholen, doch die Annäherung zwischen den beiden ist schwierig. Immer
wieder büchst Travis aus, er scheint versessen darauf zu sein, zu einem
öden Stück Land zu gelangen, dass er per Post gekauft hat: Ein
Grundstück in der Stadt Paris, Texas. <br>

Club einen lebhaften Dokumentarfilm gewidmet. Der Buena Vista Social Club
ist ein Club wunderbarer alter kubanischer Herren, die ihre Liebe zur
Soul-Musik bei bester Laune gehalten hat. Vollblutmusiker Ry Cooder hat
sie, Ruben Gonzales, Compay Segundo und Ibrahim Ferrer sowie ihren
Musikerkollegen Eliades Ochoa für seine Aufnahme von Buena Vista Social
Club aus dem Rentnerdasein geholt. Und Wim Wenders hat sie gemeinsam mit
den Kameramännern Jörg Widmer und Robby Müller beim Proben, im Studio,
bei Auftritten in Europa und USA, wo sie staunend durch die
Strassenschluchten wandeln und natürlich in ihrer Heimat, z.B. zu Hause
im Wohnzimmer, beobachtet.<br>

Buena Vista Social Club ist nicht nur ein reiner Musikfilm. Er zeigt sehr
einfühlsam, aber nie zu aufdringlich die verschiedenen Persönlichkeiten
der Musiker. Des weiteren kommt die marode Stimmung, die Havanna
ausstrahlt in phantastischen Bildern mit tollen Farben rüber.</span></font><span
